CYTUR (CEO Yonghyun Jo) has won the "2026 Excellent Patent Award" for its core technology in the field of vessel cybersecurity.
CYTUR, a company specializing in maritime, vessel, and defense cybersecurity, develops and supplies cybersecurity solutions covering a vessel's entire lifecycle — from design through operation — using its own in-house technology.
Since July 2024, the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) has made compliance with its cyber resilience Unified Requirements (UR E26/E27) mandatory for newbuild vessels. However, conventional manual and spreadsheet-based methods make it difficult to reflect changes that occur during operation in real time.
CYTUR's CYTUR-MG (Maritime Guard) is an intelligent, integrated management platform for vessel cyber resilience designed to solve this problem. It analyzes a vessel's network to automatically identify and manage Computer Based System (CBS) assets, analyzes vessel-specific communication protocols such as NMEA, and provides GPS signal spoofing detection, while automatically generating the asset inventories and risk management records required for classification society inspections.
This technological capability is also translating into results in the market. In partnership with Rakuten Maritime, CYTUR has secured cybersecurity project contracts covering several dozen commercial vessels operated by global shipping companies, and its technology has been recognized both at home and abroad — including CYTUR-MG's Approval in Principle (AiP) from the UK's Lloyd's Register.
