DS Lab Company and Korea University selected for Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries R&D project
As autonomous vessels and smart ships become more widespread, the threat of cyberattacks targeting ships is growing in parallel. Thorough preparedness for ship cybersecurity has become essential.
DS Lab Company, a firm specializing in ship cybersecurity, held the ‘Cyber Turtle Ship’ project workshop on the 15th at the Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, together with Korea University, DSME, SECUI, and Piolink. The workshop was part of a project selected as a research and development initiative by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, with the goal of collecting and analyzing cyber threat intelligence centered on ships to develop Korean ship cybersecurity technologies and equipment.
In particular, this project is expected to be applied to advanced vessels that Korea will build in the future—including autonomous vessels, smart ships, and light aircraft carriers—thereby strengthening the cybersecurity competitiveness of the shipbuilding and maritime industry and establishing it as a new convergence industry.
