CYTUR Obtains RINA ‘Novel Technology Approval’ Statement, Accelerating Global Expansion in Maritime Cybersecurity

Seoul, South Korea – CYTUR, a maritime cybersecurity specialist, has obtained a statement ‘Novel Technology Approval’ from RINA, Italian classification society, for its flagship solutions, CYTUR SC-P (network scanner) and CYTUR TM (threat modeling platform).

This follows earlier certificates from Korean classification society KR and Japan classification society ClassNK, reinforcing CYTUR’s position as a global player in maritime cybersecurity. The company’s threat modeling solution applies a ‘Secure by Design’ approach to identify cyber risks at the vessel design phase, to comply with IACS UR E26/E27 and defense-grade RMF standards.

As ship systems become increasingly digitalized, regulators like the IMO are mandating cyber resilience in new shipbuilding contracts. RINA’s certification provides CYTUR with a key foothold in Europe, particularly as Italy ranks among the continent’s top three shipbuilders.

CEO Yonghyun Jo commented: "With RINA certification, alongside our KR and ClassNK recognitions, CYTUR is positioned to deliver proven Korean cybersecurity technologies to shipyards worldwide and to actively prepare for upcoming global mandates, including U.S. MASGA project requirements."

CYTUR has been developing AI-based maritime surveillance cybersecurity solutions for smart ships, autonomous vessels, and naval platforms. The company has been selected by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups for the ‘2025 Super Gap Startup 1000+ DIPS Marine Sector,’ receiving official Korean government recognition for its technological innovation and excellence.
